How we work
Five steps to one birthday.
Every BHA party follows the same five steps — from the partnering organisation that knows the children, to the celebrant who decides whether to say yes. Here's how one birthday gets made.
Consent-first. Centre-led. Child-honoured.
Every party is the same five steps. The order matters: the centre nominates, the child decides, and only then do we book a cake.

Outreach
We approach a Partnering Organisation and ask them to nominate a centre, a date, and a time. POs are long-standing Hong Kong social-service organisations — Caritas, SoCo, the Boys & Girls Club — who already know the children we want to reach.

Nomination
The centre identifies celebrants who can't afford to celebrate their birthdays. Centre staff know each child personally; we trust their judgement on who needs this most.

Consent
The celebrant decides. Each nominated child is asked whether they want a Birthday Happiness party. If they say no, we move on. A birthday is something to want — not something done to you.

Celebrate
The day belongs to them. Up to 10 celebrants per party (room-size limited), each inviting 3 to 4 guests of their choosing. Food, drinks, cake, gifts, music, and a couple of hours that exist for them.

Stay in touch
We keep contact with the centre for future birthdays. Some celebrants are nominated again next year; some have grown out of it; some have left. The relationship stays open.
Centres that already know the children.
These are the centres that nominate celebrants and host the parties. Without them there is no BHA.
